The Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary , is a Pontifical Religious Institute, whose members are committed to God and the Church by the profession of the public vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.

The charism of the sisters is Love, which continues to manifest itself today in the sisters’ joyful service of God and his people; creative Hope, which puts all its confidence in God’s loving Providence; and Fidelity, which inspires fervor in their vocation in Christ and their mission in the Church.

The Immaculata branch of the Congregation comprises approximately 790 Sisters who currently staff Catholic schools and parishes in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Florida and the South American country of Peru. The sisters also serve the Church in pastoral and other evangelization ministries in other states as well.

 Sacramental Life

Our school provides preparation for the sacraments of Penance and Eucharist in the second grade in conjunction with the students being prepared for the CCD program. Students prepare for Reconciliation in the first semester and participate in a retreat in November before reception of First Penance in December. The second semester is devoted to preparation for First Eucharist. A retreat is held for candidates at the end of April before reception of First Eucharist in May.

Confirmation preparation is given to those students in 10th grade or older who are registered in the Life Teen program.

Students in all grades attend monthly school Masses and several class Masses throughout the year. Students in grades 2 through 8 receive the sacrament of Penance three times a year.

Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School is AdvancED accredited and the Diocese of Richmond is AdvancED accredited as a school system.

AdvancED is the largest community of education professionals in the world. They are a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. While their expertise is grounded in more than a hundred years of work in school accreditation, AdvancED is far from a typical accrediting agency. Their goal is not to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, their commitment is to help schools improve.
Combining the knowledge and expertise of a research institute, the skills of a management consulting firm and the passion of a grassroots movement for educational change, AdvancED serves as a trusted partner to 34,000 schools and school systems—employing more than four million educators and enrolling more than 20 million students—across the United States and 70 other nations.
